"Allison Dyg's "give it hell" is an anthem of perseverance. The song is about overcoming the adversities of the life of a performing artist. "My baby loves me even more than I deserve, always leave him hanging on the back burner"-a perfect articulation of how this life of an artist demands top billing in the hierarchy of interpersonal relationships. There is an authentic approach to this recording, and it transports me back to the mid 90's- A lush low end and loose vibe on the kit, hits like a Jewel/Rembrandts collaboration. If you've had the opportunity to catch a live performance from Allison Dyg, you'd know that she can go toe to toe with a Cyclone and come out on top- Capturing that essence can be one of the bigger challenges of a recording session. This track certainly gives the listener a good taste of Dyg's range. We are treated to soft intimate harmonies and at 3:40 we are treated to the eruption that is this powerhouse vocalists' signature. Allison Dyg lays it all out there and I for one, hope she continues to ignore the haters and keeps listening to her inner voice that encourages her to keep moving forward to deliver captivating performances and heartfelt originality."
